INSPIRE AFRICA COFFEE MARATHON

Uplifting Rural Coffee Women out of Poverty

The inaugural Coffee Marathon, hosted by Inspire Africa Group in partnership with Uganda’s First Lady, Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni, is set to take place at the Africa Coffee Park in Ntungamo, Uganda, marking a groundbreaking moment for the coffee sector and the rural women who sustain it.

Under the theme “Uplifting Rural Coffee Women out of Poverty,” this extraordinary event aims to bring attention to the invisible backbone of Uganda’s coffee industry—the brave women who toil in the fields to produce some of the world’s finest coffee, yet often go unrecognized.

The Coffee Marathon is more than just a race. It’s a celebration of the resilience, dedication, and contribution of rural coffee women, and an opportunity for both local and international participants to unite in solidarity with them. Set against the backdrop of the Africa Coffee Park, the event will feature engaging activities that reflect the rich cultural heritage of Uganda’s coffee sector, with a focus on education, empowerment, and community-building.

As part of the Africa Coffee Renaissance Chapter 1, an initiative launched by His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in May 2024, the marathon also serves a broader vision: to showcase Uganda’s vast business potential and investment opportunities, particularly in the coffee sector.

The event symbolizes a pivotal moment in Uganda’s journey towards becoming a leading global player in coffee production, emphasizing the importance of inclusive growth where rural women are empowered to rise out of poverty.

The Coffee Marathon represents the dawn of a new era in Uganda’s coffee narrative—one where the unsung heroes of the coffee trade are finally given their due recognition. Its future promise lies in the creation of an enduring platform that not only uplifts rural women economically but also fosters
international collaboration and investment, positioning Uganda as a hub for coffee excellence and a leader in sustainable, equitable coffee production.

By joining this first-of-its-kind marathon, participants are not just running for a cause; they are stepping into a movement—one that celebrates women’s empowerment, promotes Uganda’s coffee heritage, and paves the way for a brighter, more prosperous future for the coffee industry.
